Ride the Pumpkin Patch Train
Saturday, October 2, 2021
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
It’s the Fall harvest season so what better way to celebrate and welcome in the cooler weather than with a short ride on a vintage train to the Danbury Railway Museum’s Pumpkin Patch. This annual family event will take place on four weekends, October 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, and 23-24, with trains departing hourly beginning ½-hour after opening each day; the last train at 3:30 p.m.
Ride the Pumpkin Patch Train through the historic railyard in a 1920s passenger coach, pulled by a vintage ALCo RS-1 diesel-electric locomotive (or other vintage locomotives, subject to availability) to the special pumpkin patch where each child ages 2-12 will receive a free pumpkin. Everyone can enjoy some free cider and cookies. Of course, the exhibits, artifacts, and multiple operating model train layouts inside the restored over 100-year old Danbury station will be open for your education and entertainment. Out in the railyard, go inside real railroad cars and locomotives. There is a fully-stocked gift shop on the premises. No reservations are required; the event will be held rain or shine. If desired, reservations can be made online. Children are encouraged to come in costume.
