Conveniently located in the beautiful Springdale section of Stamford, STR boasts two NHL regulation sized ice rinks, four-birthday party/special event rooms, Skate Zone Pro Shop, Springdale Figure Skating Club, Springdale Ballet Academy, New York Sports Club, Ice View Sports Bar and Grill, and Legends Café.
Mike Backman, the Hockey Director at STR, played with for the New York Rangers and scouted professionally for the Washington Capitals. Mike has designed weekly camp programs to improve skills of the novice, intermediate, advanced, and elite AAA (travel) player. NHL players including Max Pacioretty of the Montreal Canadiens and Steve Valiquette (former New York Ranger) will also instruct selected camps.
Gold medalists and master-rated coaches Frank and Emily Cassella direct the Cassella Skating School and have developed 3 three-week recreational SUMMER CAMPS that incorporate skating with off-ice fun for children and groups that may include fitness, hip-hop, Irish dance, ballet, arts and crafts, and other activities.
For more serious skaters, STR offers figure skating camps that combine skating instruction with off-ice ballet, fitness, and dance programs.
